I'm on the latest 2017 27" iMac running High Sierra, so it's not an issue about running Win 10 on older hardware. I've called Apple about it but they fail to acknowledge the problem. once u swapped your hard drive, run windows and it will run a series of disk checks and starts to reconfigure the system. I hooked up the newly partitioned hard drive to my Macbook and proceeded to use Super Duper to do an exact clone of my OS X. I just used it 2 days back to swap my drive into the momentus xt. After replacing the screws and battery I booted up the Macbook into OS X.
I suspect it's related to a Bootcamp driver not being compatible with the latest Windows 10 version. After the WinClone procedure finished I unhooked my old drive and put it back into my Macbook. I've tried everything to prevent it from updating, even calling windows tech support and having them disable the v1709 update, and manually turning off Windows update, but without fail it turns itself back on, updates, and then fails to boot. + Can run fully functional Windows on a USB aka Windows To Go. + NTFS, exFAT, USB-FDD, GRUB4DOS full support.

What I do now is, on the Mac OS side, make a full clone of my Widows install using Winclone. I can downgrade to 1703 and it works fine for a while, then upgrades and subsequently refuses to boot.
